Amanda Downing grew up in Houston graduating from Eisenhower High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from Texas A&M University in 2001. During her coursework, Amanda focused on both international issues and domestic issues including foreign policy. During an internship at the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office, Amanda discovered an interest in both legal proceedings and the law. Her internship with Brazos County provided significant legal experience including issuance and service of subpoenas, trial preparation, presentations to grand jury, and working alongside local police agencies.
After graduation from Texas A&M, Amanda worked as a political consultant leading local and statewide campaigns. Although she worked in local and state politics for most of her life, the legal profession was her true interest. Through the legal system, Amanda could truly make a |

difference in the lives of her clients utilizing her compassionate and directed nature.
While attending South Texas College of Law, Amanda served as president of the Democratic Students Association and participated in Intramural Mock Trial Competition where she received a Best Speaker Award. Throughout law school, she also worked in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in the Asset Forfeiture Division of the Special Crimes Bureau. Here, she gained valuable civil and criminal experience as she prepared pleadings, researched legal issues, and appeared in court.
Amanda graduated in 2006 from South Texas College of Law in the top 25% of her class. She passed the bar in May of 2007 and immediately joined the firm of Musick & Musick, LLP. Amanda is a member of National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, Houston Bar Association, and Texas State Bar.
